What Librarians have said about Val and 'Science of Spin'
Science of Spin, Inc. TM
Our performer, Val Oliver, the yo-yo champion, showed up today and did an awesome program about spin, levers, friction, and of course yo-yos and how all those forces make yo-yos work. Her presentation was fun and interactive; kids and adults really enjoyed it. She brought yo-yos for kids and adults to practice the tips she taught, and I had the most success I’ve ever had with a yo-yo!
Another cool thing she did was spinning tricks with tops – it was AWESOME."
Kimberlyn Williams, Youth Services Librarian, Renner Frankford Branch Library, Dallas, TX (June 2017)
"A short little note to say a BIG THANK YOU for your great program! so educational! I had many great comments about it!"
Eileen Smith, Youth Specialist, Marble Falls Public Library, Marble Falls, TX (July 2015)
"Val is a fascinating presenter, and was one of the high points of our summer programs. The kids LOVED the show. Her performance is a good mix of education, performance, and audience participation. We were very pleased with it, and hope to have her back in the future!"
Jesse Ephraim, Youth Services Librarian, Southlake Public Library, Southlake, TX
"I am delighted to recommend your awesome program. I had several parents come up to me after your performance and tell me what a terrific time THEY had. It held everyone's interest! From 3 year olds to 50 year olds - we were all captivated."
Janet Marley, Children's Librarian, Kilgore Public Library, Kilgore, TX
"Val Oliver, from Whirled on a String, presented a great program for our Summer Reading Club. It was upbeat, fun, interesting and a little different. Val is a state champion and so talented and entertaining that she makes it all look easy. She demonstrated all sorts of tricks and most kids left wanting to give yo-yoing a try."
Annette Weber, Youth Services Librarian, Mansfield Public Library, Mansfield, TX
"Val Oliver is fabulous! She presents a lively, entertaining, and informative program about yo-yos and other spin toys that work very well in a library setting. Valerie is also easy to work with - she is prompt, reliable and affordable. I would recommend her to any public library looking for an exciting program for elementary through senior adult audiences."
Sue Ridnour, Youth Services Manager, Flower Mound Public Library, Flower Mound, TX
"Thank you, Val Oliver, for your wonderful presentation, the "Science of Spin" championship yo-yo program. It was tremendously engaging and very-well received by our 115 3rd through 6th grade Texas Bluebonnet Award readers. The students and teachers had a blast, and were very enthusiastic during and after the presentation, which I would highly recommend. The scientific connection of yo-yoing was appreciated by our science teachers in support of their curriculum. Many students purchased yo-yos the following week and they promised to show me the skills they learn when school resumes." Marcia Zorn, Librarian, Shady Oaks Elementary School
